This month the Negros Season of Culture honors Design deep-down the <\/span>Negrense DNA. Toto Sicangco has spent half a century in New York City <\/span>creating costumes and stage sets on Broadway. The Rockettes and Siegfried <\/span>and Roy\u2019s Vegas performances have showcased his designs. He worked on <\/span>musicals, like <\/span>The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, <\/span>and<\/span> Brigadoon<\/span>; on ballets, like <\/span>the <\/span>Swan Lake<\/span> and <\/span>The Nutcracker; <\/span>and on operas, like <\/span>The Barber of Seville <\/span>and <\/span>Carmen<\/span>. \"\"\u201cThe Legacy of Teng Jacinto\u201d celebrates 70 years of remarkable work of <\/span>Architect Teng Jacinto. Especially in Negros, one cannot separate Jacinto <\/span>from the JUB name, which he started with fellow architects Toto Unson and <\/span>Nonoy Benedicto. Teng Jacinto looks back to a legacy of homes and <\/span>buildings he has designed, first with his partnership, and later on his own. <\/span>The new Riverside Medical Center building in Bacolod, opened only this <\/span>year, was designed by Jacinto, now in his early 90s.<\/span><\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the youngest designer and the only Filipino in the 2020 Fashion <\/span>Week San Diego was Negrense Bea Cruz. Competing from home, watching <\/span>her collection presented virtually, Cruz bagged the Top Designer award, as <\/span>well as the best team award for BeaCruzPH at the FWSD\u2019s fashion <\/span>exhibition held in collaboration with Sotheby\u2019s New York.
